Current ai apps sample
Exact billing periods stay separate. USD medians and ranges are dated comparison estimates; Apple local amounts remain the authoritative storefront evidence.

Price and commitment are both part of the product
A one-month subscription renews after a month; a one-year subscription renews after a year. Even when they unlock similar features, they represent different commitments, cash-flow timing and cancellation decisions. A country ranking should therefore keep them in separate datasets.
The two evidence dockets on this page are built independently. Their plan counts, market counts and medians are not expected to match because only exact products that qualify for each period are admitted.
When dividing by 12 is useful
Dividing an actual yearly local price by 12 can produce a labeled effective monthly cost. That helps a reader understand the size of the commitment, but it does not turn the yearly product into a monthly product or change what Apple charges at renewal.
The calculation is strongest when it sits beside the exact monthly product from the same app, country, tier and eligibility class. If those identities do not match, the apparent saving may come from different features rather than the billing period.
- Show the authoritative annual charge first.
- Label the divided value as an effective monthly estimate.
- Do not place it in an exact monthly country ranking.
Why category medians cannot prove annual savings
Suppose the monthly AI sample contains many entry-level plans while the yearly sample contains more premium products. Comparing the two category medians would mix product composition with billing-period economics.
A valid annual-savings study needs matched pairs for each app and market. The pair can then compare 12 monthly charges with one yearly charge in the same local currency, without exchange rates affecting the result.
Choose the dataset that matches the question
Use the monthly ledger when the question is what exact one-month AI subscriptions cost across countries. Use the yearly ledger for one-year commitments. Use a matched plan page when the question is whether a particular app rewards annual payment.
This separation makes the answer less dramatic but more reproducible. Missing matches remain unknown, promotional products remain separate and a converted ranking never substitutes for the Apple local amount.

Questions
Can I compare a yearly plan with 12 monthly payments?
Yes, when both products belong to the same app, plan family and country. Keep the actual charges visible and label any derived monthly equivalent.
Why are the monthly and yearly sample sizes different?
Apps do not always publish both exact products, and each billing-period dataset applies its own verification and market-sample requirements.
Should a yearly price divided by 12 rank with monthly plans?
No. It is a derived commitment estimate, not an exact one-month recurring price.
