Choose the Apple Gift Card task you need
Apple Gift Card searches cover several different jobs: buying a card, checking a balance, redeeming a code, funding an eligible subscription or judging a discount. Start with the job because the correct answer can depend on the card type, the recipient's Apple Account country and who bills the purchase.
App Price Atlas focuses on the subscription decision after those checks. It can show the exact Apple product, billing period, country price and observation date; it cannot confirm that a particular account or retailer transaction will be accepted.
- Buying: confirm the card type, storefront country, face value, delivery and activation terms.
- Redeeming: use the intended Apple Account and keep the receipt until the balance appears.
- Paying for a subscription: confirm the plan is billed through Apple and is eligible for account balance.
- Comparing cost: keep Apple's listed charge separate from any retailer discount or later reward.
Know which Apple card you are buying
An Apple Gift Card can be redeemed to Apple Account balance for eligible Apple products and services in supported markets. Supported App Store & iTunes Gift Cards can also fund eligible digital purchases. An older Apple Store Gift Card is a different product for Apple retail purchases and cannot be redeemed in the App Store or iTunes Store.
Names and availability can vary by country. Read the product description and local terms instead of relying on artwork or a seller's shortened title. A code that does not match the intended purchase is difficult to fix after delivery or redemption.
- Match the exact card product to digital or retail use.
- Match the card's country or region to the recipient's Apple Account storefront.
- Treat a retailer's own promotional voucher as a separate product with separate terms.
Where can you use an Apple Gift Card?
After a supported card is redeemed, Apple says the resulting account balance can pay for products and accessories at Apple and for eligible apps, games, in-app purchases and subscriptions in Apple services. The available uses and purchase route depend on the card and country.
Apple Account balance is not a general bank balance. It cannot be typed into an independent developer website or transferred to another Family Sharing member for that person to spend. Some purchases or subscriptions are excluded, and Apple may still require another payment method on file.
How to redeem a card and check Apple Gift Card balance
Redeem the code through Apple's device-specific App Store flow or the redemption link in an eligible gift-card email. Sign in to the Apple Account that should own the balance, enter or scan the code, and then confirm the account balance before relying on it for a charge.
If the code is unreadable, not activated or tied to another country or region, keep the original card and receipt and use Apple's support steps. Do not post the code or send it to an unknown person offering activation help. After redemption, the value becomes Apple Account balance; check that balance from the same account rather than trying to reuse the code.
- Confirm the account before redeeming because balance is personal.
- Keep proof of purchase until activation and balance are confirmed.
- Check the next subscription renewal amount as well as the available balance.
Can it pay for App Store subscriptions?
Apple says Apple Account balance can pay for subscriptions to apps from the App Store, with exceptions and possible requirements for a valid card on file. That means a gift card can fund many Apple-billed subscriptions after redemption, but it is not a blanket promise for every plan or account.
First identify the exact product and billing route. An app can offer one plan through Apple and a separate website plan with different features, price or renewal period. Use the dedicated subscription guide for the full compatibility checklist, then compare the exact App Store plan before deciding how much balance to add.
Buying online and judging Apple Gift Card deals
For an online purchase, begin with Apple's local website or a retailer whose country, currency, delivery method, activation process and refund terms you can verify. A US card should not be assumed to work in another storefront, and an emailed code does not remove the country restriction.
A discount changes the effective cost of usable balance; it does not change the subscription price published by Apple. For example, paying $90 for $100 of usable balance with no fees makes each balance dollar cost $0.90. An eligible $20 charge then consumes balance that cost $18, while the remaining $80 stays as Apple balance. This is an example calculation, not a current deal.
- Compare total cash paid with usable balance after all fees.
- Separate an immediate discount from a future voucher, points or cashback.
- Value only the balance you reasonably expect to use.
- Recheck time-limited terms instead of relying on an undated deals article.
Expiry, refunds and country restrictions
Expiry and refund questions need the terms for the exact card, country and promotion. Do not generalize one country's standard Apple Gift Card terms to a legacy card, retailer voucher or promotional credit issued under different rules. Check the current local terms before purchasing and keep a dated copy when the amount is material.
Country restrictions also affect redemption. Buying a card does not change an Apple Account's country or unlock another storefront price. Apple lists conditions for changing an account country, including spending remaining balance and resolving subscriptions, so a gift card should not be treated as a region-switching shortcut.

Questions
How do I check an Apple Gift Card balance?
If the card has been redeemed, check Apple Account balance while signed in to the same account. If it has not been redeemed, use the card and retailer instructions; do not assume a code can be checked safely through an unrelated website.
How do I redeem an Apple Gift Card?
Use Apple's redemption flow on the intended Apple Account, enter or scan the code, and confirm that the balance appears. Keep the card and receipt until activation is verified.
Where can I use an Apple Gift Card?
A supported card can fund eligible purchases in Apple properties after redemption, including many apps, in-app purchases and subscriptions. It is not a general payment method for independent developer websites, and exceptions can apply.
Can I use a US Apple Gift Card in another country?
Do not assume so. Apple restricts redemption by country or region, and a gift card does not change the Apple Account storefront.
Do Apple Gift Cards expire?
Check the current terms for the exact card and country. Standard cards, legacy products, retailer vouchers and promotional credits can have different rules, so one market's answer should not be generalized globally.
Is an Apple Gift Card deal the same as an App Store price drop?
No. A retailer promotion can reduce what you pay for usable balance, while the App Store subscription charge remains unchanged. Fees, future rewards and unused balance can also change the effective saving.
